At the center of everything God calls us to do is love. The Apostle Paul reminds us that even if we speak with the tongues of angels or have faith to move mountains, without love, it amounts to nothing (1 Corinthians 13:1–2). Love is the foundation, the motive, and the measure of true ministry.
In recent weeks, we have been reminded that love is more than a feeling—it is action. It looks like praying for those who hurt us, forgiving offenses, serving without recognition, and showing kindness even when it is inconvenient. Love requires sacrifice, but in that sacrifice, Christ is revealed.
We have seen this love in motion: in families reconciling, in believers supporting one another through difficult times, and in the church rallying around those who needed encouragement. Love has healed wounds, restored hope, and reminded us of our identity as children of God.
Walking in love also means extending it beyond familiar circles. Jesus commanded us to love not only those who love us back but even our enemies (Matthew 5:44). As we stretch to love the difficult, the distant, and the different, we mirror the heart of Christ, who laid down His life for all.
Love also builds unity. Division cannot stand where love reigns. In choosing love, we have chosen peace over conflict, forgiveness over bitterness, and service over self-interest. This kind of love becomes a testimony to the world that we belong to Jesus.
Love is not optional—it is the very essence of who we are as believers. As we continue to walk in love, may our words, actions, and attitudes reflect the heart of Christ, who loved us first and calls us to do the same.
